Eligibility & entry

Eligibility & entry.

Who can enter the festival?

Nigerians aged 16 to 35 living in any of the 36 states or the FCT. Staff of the festival (admins and state coordinators) cannot submit films.

Does it cost anything to enter?

No. Submitting a film is free. The festival is funded by partners so entry stays open to every filmmaker.

Can I submit more than one film?

Yes, but each film must be a separate entry with its own submission form and film link.

Can I shoot on a phone?

Yes. Any camera is welcome, phones included. What matters is the story and how carefully it's told.

Submissions & selection

Submissions & selection.

How long should my film be?

Between 3 and 5 minutes (180–300 seconds), documenting a real maternal or newborn health story from your community.

What language can I film in?

Any Nigerian language. If the primary language isn't English, please include English subtitles so judges outside your region can follow.

How does selection work?

Three stages: state coordinators shortlist entries from their state, regional judges pick finalists across the six zones, and a national jury selects the films screened at the closing gala.

When will I hear back?

You'll see status updates on your dashboard as your entry moves through each stage. Exact dates for each stage are announced on the Draws page.

Account & data

Account & data.

Why do I need an account?

So you can track your submission through the three stages, edit your details, and receive notes from coordinators.

Can I withdraw my submission?

Yes. From your dashboard you can withdraw a submitted film at any time before selection closes.

Who can see my film?

State coordinators for your state and the festival admin team. Selected films appear publicly on the Draws page with your credit.
